Last year, about spring time, I began to use Power Sheets and made a vision board. While I thought the Power Sheets were useful, I wanted to try something new this year. I happened to have a unused journal a wonderful friend gave me for my birthday a few years ago and began to turn it into a bullet journal for 2017.
There are a lot of great resources and ideas for bullet journals on Pinterest. I pinned a few of my favorite resources to a folder called Bullet Journal. I began my bullet journal journey actually a few days before the new year where I sat down alone at a coffee shop and wrote down my goals for 2017 and created a spark file google doc that I can access anywhere with story pitch ideas and contact names and emails for print mags and online pubs (thanks Rachel for this tip).
I found this great printable bullet journal pack on Etsy that had pre-designed pages like 30-Day Habit Change pages, a key/legend for your journal and much more. I can’t draw much beyond a stick figure, so I printed the pages and added some flare with colored markers.
I set a goal to have the layout and initial pages printed, assembled and filled in for my journal by January 15th. I thought about the things I find fulfillment in from reading and crafting to spending time outside and traveling.77 I’m tracking habit changes from month to month starting with workout goals, article pitching goals and not drinking soda goals. House projects I would like to tackle/complete are also a part of my journal.
Just like my quest for minimalism, my journal will be a work in progress throughout 2017. New goals will be added, new habit changes will be focused on, and my progress will be tracked as well. I can’t wait to see how far I go in 2017.
