Letting Go

We dropped off Emma for her first day of preschool Thursday morning. Emma bounded into the room ready to get her day of school started. The principal was ready at the door with Kleenex for the parents (well really, the moms).

I remember as I sat at a local coffee shop after saying goodbye, my thoughts drifted to Emma wondering what she is doing right then. I could picture her playing with blocks, listening to a story read by her teacher or running on the playground. I’ve left her at dance camp, at climbing class and with a sitter. But, this is different. As AJ put it, it’s really the first step in letting her go. Letting her go is as scary as it is exciting. I can’t wait to see what she can achieve. At the same time, I hope we are raising her to make the best decisions in life.

Now with some extra time on my hands, I will be running the trails, building my blog, pitching articles for 2017 and working on assignments. Look for my first Vlog (video blog) post featuring the fun we had completing our summer bucket list in the next week. I am also making my first set of printables for the fall that you will be able to download and print for free. The fall always makes me in a DIY mood, so be on the lookout for recipes, craft ideas and other DIY projects in some upcoming posts too.

This week, Emma will have two mornings of preschool and will start her fall climbing and dance class. We’ve had a few cooler days making me heavily anticipate fall weather. Bring on the sweaters and cute boots!

Grateful Postings:

Fabienne St. Louis is a Mauritian professional triathlete who raced in Rio this morning despite being diagnosed with salivary gland cancer in December. BBC News posted this video with St. Louis discussing why she chose to still race. Unfortunately, she had a DNF. But, her message in even being there can’t be overlooked. “Whether you are sick or have something, you have to fight until its finished,”she said. Thank you Fabienne for sending such a positive message to anyone who is out there fighting sickness or personal battles.

Adventure On,

Courtney
